Ask a Librarian: Suggest Purchases

Contact us

Can I ask the Library to purchase a particular publication or to subscribe to a particular journal or database? What procedure do I need to follow?

Yes, you can recommend that the Library purchase, or subscribe to, a book, e-book, journal, e-journal, database ... etc.

Submit your recommendations online via the Library Catalogue. Glide your cursor over My Library and select Suggest a book purchase from the drop down menu. Enter your student number and myUnisa password, click on LOGIN, and then complete the form and click on Submit this suggestion.

The recommendations of Unisa staff, students and special members are a welcome and important source of infomation about the teaching, learning and research needs of our Library users and about gaps in our collections.

Whenever possible, the Library will try to obtain suggested purchases or subscriptions and always gives serious consideration to your input. Examples of why the Library might decide not to purchase, or subscribe to, an item you recommend would include budgetary constraints or the Library's policy guidelines on Collection Development
