Library Technology Support: Troubleshooting access problems

To keep clients up-to-date concerning developments related to library e-resources, systems, databases and applications.

Access issues

Most of the systems and applications access issues can usually be fixed by clearing your cache and browser cookies.

Another way to check if your cache and browser cookies are the cause of the problems is to open up a "private browsing" or "incognito mode" window, which allows your current browser cookies to be ignored. Firewalls and popup blockers can also cause you to receive error messages when using the Library databases. Disable popup blockers while you are using our databases. You can always go back and enable them again for general Internet use. See the section further below on Web Browsers for more information.

If your encompassed error still persists contact us at: lib-help@unisa.ac.za

Enabling cookies

Sometimes, when trying to connect to our databases, you may get one of the following errors:

  1. "Reason: -- unrecognized error. Please contact technical support"
  2. Cookies are not enabled

Please enable cookies on your browser, by following these steps.
