Library Technology Support: Browser and connection problems

To keep clients up-to-date concerning developments related to library e-resources, systems, databases and applications.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer sometimes defaults to a higher level of security for cookies than the databases can accept. This can result in some databases not being accessible.

To change this set up do the following:

  • From the menu at the top of Internet Explorer, select Tools
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select the Privacy tab
  • This is probably set to Medium. Change the setting to Low
  • You may need to exit Internet Explorer and open it again

The Low setting still restricts cookies that provide personal information and those that do not have a compact privacy policy. You can change this setting after you are through using the Libraries' databases.

Please try at least two of the recommended browsers to make sure that your problem is not a browser-related issue before reporting the problem.
