Research Commons - the Unisa Library: Home

The Research Commons is on level 4 of the library and provides a congenial environment for Unisa researchers. This guide is also a "virtual" Research Commons for those who are unable to visit the library.

Welcome to the Research Commons, the Unisa Library's virtual and physical gateway to library services for academic, graduate students, and researchers.

The Research Commons is not only a physical space in Unisa Library;  it is also a "virtual space" or web presence that centralises access to research assistance irrespective of geographical location.

By bringing together expertise from across campus into one location to support the entire research cycle, the Research Commons aims to sustain the innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship of our researchers.  Should you not be able to visit the library in person, this guide has been designed so that you can have access to the Research Commons from the comfort of your home, office or wherever you are.

The Research Commons in the Unisa Library will be phased in over several years, with a goal to provide flexible physical and virtual space that is adaptable and in keeping with the anticipated needs of researchers.

Among the first steps in realizing a research commons will be to aggregate existing services through a website, creating a “virtual commons,” and add complementary services as they are developed as well as creating a congenial physical environment on level 4 of the library.
