Remote desktop software, otherwise known as remote access or remote control software lets you control one computer from another - you can take over the keyboard and mouse and open, change and save files on the other person's computer.

Remote desktop software is really useful, from helping your brother, who lives far way, work through a computer issue to showing your Librarian on why you are struggling to open certain documents or links that were sent to you.

Remote desktop software works on the principle that software is installed on the computer you want to connect to, called the host. After this another computer with the same software, called the client, can then connect to the host and control it.
