Information literacy is seen as "... the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand by the United States National Forum. The Eastern Cape library is inviting students around East London, Mthatha & Gqeberha to book for information literacy training with Eastern Cape Library Services by sending the email according to the below schedules.

Description of Trainings Offered
1. Introduction to the library services and procedures which covers: - Library tour; library rules and procedures; creating a Library PIN; Library resources.
2. Basic PC Fundamentals : Keyboard and Mouse Skills, Accessing Internet, Saving Documents in PDF.
3. Library Catalogue which includes: Air Pac; Basic Search options; Borrowing; Renewals; Requests (ILL); Returning of library material; E-Reserves (prescribed and recommended reading).
4. Electronic resources which includes: Online reference sources (encyclopaedias, dictionaries etc.); online requests (requesting books and articles); how to access E-reserves; off-campus access; Locating journal articles; choosing and searching databases; search techniques; printing/saving/emailing articles.
5. Introduction to Referencing Techniques which includes: Copyright; plagiarism; in-text referencing; referencing styles.
