Intellectual Property Policy - Unisa
The University of South Africa (Unisa) Intellectual Property (IP) Policy governs the creation, management, and commercialization of IP generated by its employees, students, and researchers, as mandated by the Intellectual Property Rights from Publicly Funded Research and Development Act 51 of 2008. Under this policy, Unisa retains ownership of IP arising from publicly funded research and is responsible for managing and commercializing it to benefit the nation. For theses and dissertations, students are the copyright owners but must grant Unisa non-exclusive rights to disseminate them through the Unisa Institutional Repository (UnisaIR)
