Unisa Open is a portal to help students, staff and any OER users and producers worldwide to source high-quality resources. It provides a space for conversation and a starting point for those just making their acquaintance with OER.

Chimurenga, a pan African publication of writing, art and politics has been in print since March 2002. It was founded by Ntone Edjabe. The journal is published irregularly in print, online and through themed performances called “Chimurenga Sessions.

The PMS Reader is a working space, a public forum and an aggregator of ideas, sources and discussion. Contributors from across Africa and the world are invited to describe and re-scribe the links between power, money and sex on this open-source archive, and to examine how the links inform the language we use to imagine, negotiate and experience the multiplex of space, place and self.

Launched in October 1994 by the Botsotso Jesters, a poetry performance group, Botsotso is a group of poets, writers and artists who wish to both create art as well as to generate the means for its public communication and appreciation. Botsotso speaks particularly of art that is of, and about, the varied cultures and life experiences of people in South Africa – as expressed in all our many languages.

SLiP, or the Stellenbosch Literary Project, was set up in February 2011 as a public media and events platform to advance literary and performance culture in all languages in South Africa.SLiP engages the talents of both professional and graduate-student writers, providing a public, professional media platform in which emerging scholars are able to cut their teeth as commentators in civil society at large, following the example of the professionals.

The English Academy of Southern Africa was founded in 1961. It is an association dedicated to promoting the effective use of English as a dynamic language in Southern Africa. Membership is open to all persons and organizations identifying with the Academy’s mission and sharing its vision. On this site you will find news and photographs of recent events that the Academy has hosted. These include conferences and public lectures, occasional schools and seminars on English-related topics, and the presentation of of the Academy’s prestigious prizes and awards, lectures, conferences and schools.

The Museum started in 1972 as a collection of documents and has grown, over the years, into a national resource funded principally by the Central Government, and was declared cultural institution on 18 April 1980. NELM's principal functions are to collect and conserve material evidence pertaining to this literature, to publicise and popularise it, and to provide all sections of the reading public, both locally and abroad, with the means of access to it.

The Professional Editors’ Group (PEG) is an association for copy-editors, proofreaders and other language practitioners and communications specialists who practise in a wide variety of fields in South and southern Africa. A key objective is to promote the professional development and interests of its members.

A free on-line analogue of Introduction to Old English, 3rd edition, published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2012. Contains over 200 short passages illustrating grammatical and other points. Consult the accompanying translations to check your understanding of the grammar and sense of Old English.

This project was initiated by a group of medievalists interested in promoting Chaucer studies on the WWW. Its aims are to organize and provide navigation aides for Chaucer resources on the WWW, to work towards enhancing and extending those resources, and to encourage Chaucer studies, including those undertaken via distance learning at all levels of education.

The Online Archive offers a wealth of texts from the Middle Ages through the early Victorian period. The Archive includes all public-domain texts trimmed from The Norton Anthology of English Literature over six editions. Texts include annotation prepared by the editors. They are formatted for ease of downloading and printing.

The Victorian Web, one of the oldest academic and scholarly websites, presents its images and documents, including entire books, as nodes in a network of complex connections. In other words, it emphasizes the link rather than the search tool (though it has one) and presents information linked to other information rather than offering atomized and isolated information.

uniformly presents a large set of speech samples from a variety of language backgrounds. Native and non-native speakers of English read the same paragraph and are carefully transcribed. The archive is used by people who wish to compare and analyze the accents of different English speakers.
