Introducing Journal Citation Reports 2021

The 2021 edition of Journal Citation Reports (JCR), used to identify the world's leading journals in the sciences ans social sciences and understand key citation impact trends,  was launched on 10 July.

What is new for 2021?

Expanded journal coverage
This year's release includes expanded coverage of the journal literature to reflect the full breadth of research covered in all the journals in the Web of Science Core Collection™ – including journals covered in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI)™ and the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)™.

A new metric
The Journal Citation Indicator is a field-normalized measurement of journal citation impact, providing a single journal-level metric that can be easily interpreted and compared across disciplines. It has been calculated for all journals in the Web of Science Core Collection – including those that do not have a Journal Impact Factor™.

A new visual experience
New graphics improve the user experience with simpler, more direct searching while providing a deeper look into the data – for example, a view of how a journal’s metrics have evolved over time.
