Publish open access with Sage journals

Sage

The Unisa Library has signed an agreement with Sage for the open access publishing of articles by authors affiliated with the University of South Africa. This agreement commenced in 2022 and is a 3-year agreement from 2022 - 2024

Subscription journals (hybrid)

Corresponding authors publishing an article in 900+ subscription journals (the 2023 Sage Premier package) which offer hybrid open access publishing (Sage Choice) can be published open access, free of charge. Corresponding authors from University of South Africa are also entitled to publish articles in IMechE journals, free of charge. Charges other than the author article process charge (APC) may still apply, please refer to individual journal submission guidelines.

Gold open access journals:

Corresponding authors publishing an article in a gold open access journal are also entitled to a 20% discount on the prevailing article processing charge (APC) for that journal. For participating journals view the Gold journal title list. This discount will be applied automatically in the Sage Open Access Portal. Where an author is eligible for more than one discount, discounts cannot be combined but the highest discount available to the author will be applied to the APC due.

Information regarding this agreement is available on the following pages:

There is no limit to the number of articles that can be published open access in Sage hybrid titles (Sage Choice). There is a 20% discount on Sage Pure Gold Open Access journals.

There are a small number of titles where Sage is contractually prevented from offering open access publishing.
