Current awareness is the term used to describe staying informed by keeping up to date with the latest publications, research and news in your field.
The perspective of current awareness is the present and the forthcoming, as opposed to the retrospective.
Current awareness ranges from looking for information on specific topics on a regular basis (and this usually involves the assistance of your Personal Librarian to help you set up a search profile matched to your research interests) to embracing a wider, more general, and cross-disciplinary view that brings an element of serendipity into your search for the latest information.
Informally, researchers remain alert in all contexts for useful information and insights that will inform their daily practice, their research, and spark off innovative and creative ideas for new avenues of research.
ENN Environmental News Network
When ENN was started over twenty years ago, it was our intention that our service would bring attention to the present and future environmental issues facing the health of our planet and the people it supports. Now, in a world where these issues have migrated to the mainstream, we are looking forward and asking: what more can we do to help?
ENN has a serious editorial mission. Our mission is to inform, educate, enable and create a platform for global environmental action.
As a result, our readers are top environmental leaders from government, business and educators, as well as a broad spectrum of "intellectually curious" citizens.
While in the past we were mainly aggregators of environmental news, ENN has become more than just a collection of content. It is rapidly becoming a collection of resources, teachers, experts and tools that provide objective information and knowledge about the increasingly complex field of environmental science.
This distinction is important. As readers drown in too much information, then the sifting, sorting and organizing skills of the staff and editors at ENN becomes more and more critical.
As part of this solution, ENN has, under new management, just entered into a variety of new partnerships with highly experienced environmental experts and editorial affiliates to bring to ENN a greater balance and depth of understanding about complex environmental issues, as well as front line reporting, that will be unlike that available to any other environmental news organization.
I hope you will take a minute and explore the new ENN and get to know our services, meet our Partners and make use of what we feel is a critical information service for anyone who cares about improving our world.

The year is marked with many special days, weeks, and months dedicated and devoted to raising awareness about important issues.
This monthly post, compiled by the Information Search Librarians Team, will note special dates and themes, and draw your attention to possibly interesting cross-disciplinary topical references intended to inform and to inspire ideas for research.
International days and weeks are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. We also mark other UN observances.

Awareness about plagiarism amongst university students in Pakistan
Source: Higher Education, July 2012 Vol 64 (1), pp 73-94
Abstract
Research is an original and systematic investigation undertaken to discover new facts and information about a phenomenon. However, a variety of empirical and ethical issues are on the rise in academia, especially plagiarism is quickly becoming part of global educational and research culture. More and more students and researchers are turning to the Internet for cooked solutions and shortcuts for writing assignments, research papers and thesis. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the seriousness of plagiarism amongst graduate and post graduate students of Pakistan. It also explores the university students' level of awareness of plagiarism. A total of 365 graduate and post graduate students of randomly selected public and private sector universities participated in this exploratory empirical study. A self-reported questionnaire survey was used for collection of primary data. Findings revealed that there was a low level of awareness about plagiarism and university plagiarism policies and processes amongst the students. Findings also revealed that many respondents did not understand what plagiarism is? A significant number of students have fairly admitted that they have intentionally plagiarized written materials. Based on the findings of the study this paper puts forward recommendations to create awareness amongst the students regarding plagiarism, plagiarism policies and provides statistical evidences for formulation of policies and guidelines to combat pla- giarism in institutions of higher learning in Pakistan. Furthermore, the paper submits recommendations to minimize the plagiarism based on the authors' experiences.
