What is current awareness

Current awareness is the term used to describe staying informed by keeping up to date with the latest publications, research and news in your field.

The perspective of current awareness is the present and the forthcoming, as opposed to the retrospective.

Current awareness ranges from looking for information on specific topics on a regular basis (and this usually involves the assistance of your Personal Librarian to help you set up a search profile matched to your research interests) to embracing a wider, more general, and cross-disciplinary view that brings an element of serendipity into your search for the latest information.

Informally, researchers remain alert in all contexts for useful information and insights that will inform their daily practice, their research, and spark off innovative and creative ideas for new avenues of research.

About the monthly awareness page

The year is marked with many special days, weeks, and months dedicated and devoted to raising awareness about important issues.

This monthly post, compiled by the Information Search Librarians Team, will note special dates and themes, and draw your attention to possibly interesting cross-disciplinary topical references intended to inform and to inspire ideas for research.

Selected noteworthy days in November

Why do we mark International Days?

International days and weeks are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. We also mark other UN observances.

National Authors Day – November 1

National Authors Day is celebrated on November 1 each year to honor the writers who inspire, educate, and entertain through their words. In 2025, the day falls on a Wednesday, offering readers a perfect time to thank their favorite authors, attend book events, or start writing their own stories.

World Children's Day - 20 November

Children's Day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honour of children, whose date of observance varies by country. In 1925, International Children's Day was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare. Since 1950, it is celebrated on 1 June in many countries that were part of Eastern Bloc and Non-Aligned Movement, which follow the suggestion from Women's International Democratic Federation. World Children's Day is celebrated on 20 November to commemorate the issuance of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the UN General Assembly on 20 November 1959, along with the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on that date in 1989.

Research on safety technology of intelligent aviation ammunition system

  • Shan Yongzhi, Meng Xianglei, Zhang Long, He Bangqi, Xu Liangchen, Hu Lifeng*

Journal of Physics: Conference Series;Bristol Vol 2891,Iss.11 (Dec 2024)

Abstract:With the continuous development of military technology, intelligent aviation ammunition has become an important part of modern military operations. However, the safety of intelligent aviation munitions systems has always been a matter of concern. This study aims to explore the safety technology of intelligent aviation ammunition systems to ensure their reliability and stability in combat. First, this study reviews the current development status and application fields of intelligent aviation ammunition systems. Subsequently, it focused on analyzing the security threats and risks that intelligent aviation ammunition systems may face, including perception security, planning security, communication security, and evaluation and testing security. In response to these security challenges, a series of technologies and strategies have been proposed, and comprehensive security measures have been adopted to effectively reduce the security risks of intelligent aviation ammunition systems and improve their credibility and availability in actual combat. This research provides theoretical support and practical guidance for the safety technology of intelligent aviation ammunition systems, and provides a reference for its future development and application.

1. Introduction: With the rapid development of technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and sensors, along with the demand for intelligent combat in military operations, intelligent munitions are playing an increasingly important role in modern military warfare as a high-tech weapon system. Intelligent munitions possess intelligent capabilities such as battlefield awareness, situational reasoning, and mission planning, enabling the closed-loop OODA[1] (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) combat task chain. Currently, the world's major military powers are vigorously promoting the construction of military intelligence, and intelligent aviation munitions have gradually covered multiple combat fields. Compared with traditional munitions, intelligent munitions offer higher accuracy, stronger strike power, and more flexible application methods, thus being widely used in various combat missions on the battlefield. In the recent Russia-Ukraine war, both sides employed a large number of intelligent aviation munitions, marking the initial emergence of unmanned and autonomous characteristics in intelligent warfare.
